For Dr. Isabela Aguirre, dentistry has always been personal. Raised in Carmel, Indiana, she knew from the age of 10 that she wanted to become a dentist. After graduating from Tufts University, she returned home to build Stony Creek Dentistry in nearby Noblesville, serving the community that raised her.
But running a practice brought challenges beyond patient care. With just one dentist and two administrative staff, Stony Creek needed its operations to run efficiently. Insurance billing, however, had become an increasingly difficult burden.
The Challenge: Payment posting was automated. Everything after it wasn’t.
Stony Creek was already investing in Lassie to automate insurance payment posting. But the harder work—following up on unpaid claims, appealing denials, and recovering outstanding revenue—still required manual effort and outside support.
By May 2026, the practice had accumulated $191,000 in insurance A/R over 30 days old, including $108,000 over 90 days old.
The problem wasn’t simply getting payments posted. It was making sure the practice actually got paid.
The Solution: Recovering revenue today, preventing backlogs tomorrow
In May 2026, Stony Creek moved from Lassie to Teero with two priorities: recover revenue trapped in aging claims and prevent new claims from becoming the next backlog.
The approach was simple: work every recoverable claim toward resolution, understand what’s holding it up, and address recurring issues before they create more unpaid claims.
Teero combined AI-powered claim tracking and prioritization with a team of data scientists who specialize in the dental industry, handling follow-up calls, denials, and resubmissions. Rather than leaving claims waiting for the office to follow up, the Teero platform systematically pursued outstanding payments and escalated issues requiring human judgment.
Instead of treating every denial as an isolated problem, Teero also used insights from claim follow-ups to identify recurring issues and improve how subsequent claims were handled.
The focus wasn’t simply on reducing outstanding balances, but on collecting recoverable revenue and building a Stony Creek tailored-system to prevent future claims from aging unnecessarily.
The Results: More revenue collected, faster claims resolved
Within five months, Stony Creek saw improvements on both fronts.

The Impact: More control over insurance collections
For Dr. Aguirre, the improvement wasn’t just financial. It was about regaining confidence in an area of the practice that had previously felt difficult to manage.
“It was completely out of control, so it feels like I’m more under control and, like, things are trending in the right direction.”
— Dr. Isabela Aguirre, Owner, Stony Creek Dentistry
